a poem dedicated to patrick

A kiss can be as fleeting as a breath, a moment that passes before it even begins, or it can linger heavy with meaning, a doorway to something more. It can be a confession, a question, a scream pressed silent against another’s lips. Passion, anger, confusion all of it, tangled in something as simple as the meeting of mouths.

Or maybe, it’s just a kiss. Nothing more. A brief, hollow gesture, forgotten before the air has settled. Isn’t it strange how something so small can hold the weight of the world or absolutely nothing at all?
